We’re launching a brand new adventure in Kyushu next year – and we’re hosting a party to celebrate!
Kyushu, the western anchor of Japan’s four main islands, is a place of constant change. Much like the volcanoes that continue to shape its landscape, change defines this land; it’s a place where Japanese folklore had its beginnings and a starting point of the Meiji Restoration that ushered in Japan’s modern age.
PacSet is proud to announce our most comprehensive Kyushu trip ever – along with a special event in Long Beach, California to celebrate the trip launch and all that this amazing land has to offer!
PacSet unveils Kyushu Explorer Adventure for May 11-25, 2027!
Kyushu is way more than an island. From Kagoshima, where shochu distilleries pass down centuries of knowhow, to Fukuoka, where immigrants helped shape Japan’s famous ramen, the region has left its mark on the culinary world again and again. Historically, the island is where the goddess Amaterasu hid her light from the world and where Kumamoto Castle still stands above the massive city that bears its name. There are volcanoes you can explore (don’t worry, it’s safe!), rivers to raft down, and distinctive local specialities in every corner of the land.
Kyushu Explorer: The Nine Kingdoms is a two-week journey that serves as a sampler of just how much this amazing island has to offer. You’ll sail, climb, taste, relax, craft, and explore parts of all seven prefectures in the land – all on a trip that lets you choose how you experience each destination. You can choose to calmly sail the Kuma river or ride the rapids; you can hike Mt. Yufu or the calderas of Mt. Aso, or just check out local museums and cafes with a guide. You can get up early to see shrines and museums, or stay up a little late to see what the nightlife in the city is like (or both). It’s a remarkably comprehensive journey, built for any kind of traveler, that is guaranteed to generate life-long memories and stories.
